What makes it drumfunk?
Here the breakbeat becomes the main event. Funk-derived drum samples are cut, layered and rearranged into detailed patterns, with bass and atmosphere leaving room for the rhythmic conversation. Paradox’s Drumfunk offers a direct route into the approach.
What to listen for
Listen for ghost notes, shifting fills, cymbal detail and syncopation. Follow the drums across several phrases: the interesting changes often happen between the obvious hits.
