Things are moving fast
A year ago an AI video was a few seconds of wobbly footage with no sound. Now you get proper films with sound, dialogue, different camera angles and the same character from shot to shot. Image tools follow detailed direction. AI assistants write, research and run whole jobs for you.
And it’s not slowing down. New tools come out of America, China and Europe every few weeks. The businesses using them are getting more done for less money. The ones that aren’t are paying over the odds.

What I do every day
- 01
Watch
Every day I’m on YouTube watching the people who test this stuff first, and reading what the companies themselves put out. So I know what’s new, what’s better and what actually works.
- 02
Learn
When something new drops, I try it straight away on real work. I learn how to prompt it, what it’s good at and where it falls over.
- 03
Compare
I run the same job through different tools side by side. That way I know which one’s best right now, not which one was best six months ago.
- 04
Use it for you
The winner goes on your job. If something better comes out next month, you get that too.

Who I keep an eye on
Nobody owns AI. Some of the best video tools this year came from China. Some of the best image and writing tools came from America. I watch them all:
- GoogleGemini, Veo for video, Nano Banana for pictures, Flow for film-making.
- OpenAIChatGPT and GPT Image. They shut their Sora video app down in 2026.
- AnthropicClaude. Writing, research, code and automation.
- ByteDanceSeedance video and Seedream pictures. The TikTok people.
- KuaishouKling. One of the best video models, from China.
- AlibabaWan. Open video models anyone can use.
- MidjourneyPictures with a really strong look.
- Black Forest LabsFlux. Very realistic images.
- HiggsfieldLots of these tools in one place, plus its own studio tools.

Just this year
A few of the big ones I’ve followed and put to work in the last twelve months:
Google brings out Veo 3.1. Video clips with sound built in.
Kuaishou brings out Kling 3.0 (7 February).
ByteDance brings out Seedance 2.0 (10 February). Picture and sound together, loads of references, several shots from one prompt.
Midjourney brings out V8.2 (24 July), then an editing version in August.
Higgsfield and others already have the next Seedance version, next to Kling and Veo 3.1.

Take Seedance
ByteDance, the TikTok people, released Seedance 2.0 on 10 February 2026. It came out in China first, inside their own app for paying members. Everyone else had to wait for it to reach other platforms.
It was a big jump. It makes the picture and the sound together. You can give it a load of reference pictures, clips and audio and tell it what each one is for. It can even plan several camera shots from one prompt. There were worries too. People raised concerns about lookalikes of real people, and ByteDance reportedly tightened things up after that.
I followed the whole lot as it happened. The launch, the first tests, the problems people found, the changes after. Then I built my own way of prompting it from what I learned. So when the next version landed on the platforms I use, I was ready to go on day one. See how I write prompts →

Why small works better
Big agencies pick one supplier, sign long contracts and retrain their staff once a year. I don’t have to. If something better comes out this week, I’m using it this week.
- I’m not tied to anyone. Google, OpenAI, a Chinese model or an open one. Whatever gets the right result.
- It’s quicker. I already know the newest tools before your job even arrives.
- It’s cheaper where it can be. If a cheaper tool does the job just as well, that’s the one I use.
- You talk to me, the person doing the work. Nothing gets lost.

What it means for you
Your customers are already seeing AI films, quicker websites and smarter service from your competitors. The tools to do the same are here now, and most of them cost a lot less than doing it the old way.
You don’t need to keep up with every launch. That’s my job. Tell me what you’re after. More enquiries, better content, a website that stands out, or hours back on admin. I’ll tell you straight what today’s tools can do and what it’ll cost.
The world’s changing either way. How much of it you put to work in your business is up to you.
Release dates checked November 2026. Company and product names belong to their owners. I’m not linked to any of them.
